So I started making this remake a week ago and ahead of my expectations I have a playable build! It's still real rough, but the game cycle is implemented and all game states are in. The game was also developed with a ridiculous viewport, so excuse the resolution (I'll work on getting something less... widescreen soon, but it's relatively low on my priorities list now). It also doesn't flip cards one by one yet, which might be my next priority so things don't look so random. Also I'd assure you all of the math works, but if you wanna QA it for me a bit that'd be helpful too.
Anyway, you can grab this build from my Drive over here:
So here's what's happening:
You boot the game and the game will give you and your opponent one of 4 decks (creating your own deck will come eventually). The game will select the bottom card of both your opponent's deck and your deck and display them on the left side of the board. The game will tell you the rules based on the colors revealed. You'll then be dealt 6 cards. Drag and drop 4 of them and select ready. Your opponent will play their cards and all of the powers are run. You'll then be given the option to discard one or both of your remaining cards. The game will then deal you cards to fill out your hand (remember, you have to discard both cards to get to the bottom card). You'll then have the option to place 3 more cards and hit ready. Then you'll be given the option to swap the last card at the price of 10 of your points. If you select yes those points will be deducted even if you decide to stick with the same card. You can then drag and drop the last card out of the final play area to swap it out. You'll then be asked to choose the color of your silver cards, then you'll be shown the winner based on the win conditions shown when the colors were picked.
That's a lot of rules, you can google gToons rules if you want any more info, but a lot of this entire project is lost to time.
So what's left to do?
Well, there's plenty left to do, the first thing I'd like to do is make the cards flip one by one and update the score card by card so it's more obvious what's going on. I still need to figure out the logic if there are duplicate character cards as well since they'll cancel each other out, but I'm guaranteeing there are no dupes now. And then there's the art. I haven't decided if I just want to remake this entirely using zero Cartoon Network IP's and releasing my own cards and effects, or if I'm just ripping everything from the original. I'd like to get the board looking nicer as well. And obviously getting custom decks implemented is a big priority too along with the final goal of online play.
Anyway if you've gotten this far thanks for reading my little blurb about this. Hopefully this brings you some nostalgia and I hope it isn't too broken right now, but let me know what you think, if you find any bugs, and what decks you'd like to see added to the game.
